Wausa is a small rural community with a Swedish Heritage. It is a community of caring people and country values. There are four churches: The Thabor Lutheran, Golgatha Lutheran, United Methodist, and Evangelical Covenant. A Catholic church is available in two neighboring communities.
Community events include a Labor Day celebration, a community sponsored Swedish Smorgasbord, Memorial Day services, Veteran's Day services, and a community flea market. Organizations include the Community Club, Women's Club, numerous extension clubs, church groups, Girl and Boy Scouts, and 4-H.
Regarding health care, Wausa has a doctor, dentist, assisted living facility, and a nursing home. There is a hospital in a neighboring community. The community has its own school system including elementary, Jr. high, and high school.
We have an excellent highway system, and are close to Norfolk, Nebraska, Sioux City, Iowa, and Yankton, South Dakota. This gives us all the advantages for access to advanced medical care, shopping, air transportation, etc, without the disadvantages of living in a larger area.
